Bringing together the knowledge and the experience of nine different wine-elaborating cooperatives with different Origin Denominations from Catalonia, and the labour carried out by their vine-growers, technicians and oenologists, Castell d'Or produces wines, cavas and olive oils which have earned great recognition all over the world.

The cellar from l'Espluga de Francolí was named Catedral del Vi (Wine Cathedral) by the catalan writer Àngel Guimerà. This denomination was soon used for other cellars built at the beginning of the 20th century by architects such Cèsar Martinell, follower of Antoni Gaudí, and Domenech i Montaner and his son Pere Domènech Roura.

Cooperative Modernism, wine culture for all senses|

The union of the landscapes and the work of the nine cooperative cellars give birth to Castell d’Or. In 2005 these nine cellars joined the production process, the elaboration and bottling of the wine and started the commercialization of the wine, cava and oil from the different Appelations of Catalonia, produced in Barberà de la Conca Cellars, Bellvei del Penedès, L'Arboç, L'Espluga de Francolí, La Nou de Gaià, Solivella, Vila-rodona, Vimbodí  and Vinaixa.

The wide assortment of products elaborated in the cellars, which have obtained important awards, provide the example of Castell d’Or in the Appelations such as Penedès, Cava, Catalunya, Conca de Barberà, Tarragona, Montsant and Priorat.

The architecture of the cellars is another added value; modernist cellars as l'Espluga de Francolí, Vila-rodona and Barberà de la Conca, where the landscape, the art and the functionality of the cellar are integrated in the vinicole culture of the area.
